Creating a Bold, Gender-Neutral Shopping Experience for a Haircare Brand Challenging Industry Norms

Omni is a passion project in collaboration with Sara Gisabella Design. We imagined a company that was sick of gendered haircare. Great hair is a universal concept, so we created a brand and website that embodied a bold and gender-neutral approach to a very segregated industry. Omni represents what haircare could be when it's designed for everyone.

The Challenge

The challenge was creating a neutral but exciting website experience for the brand. We imagined Omni having a photoshoot with diverse models showing a spectrum of hair types and a fluid representation of identities. Their new brand was colorful and used strong typography, so while I kept the site clean, I wanted to use as much of those bold brand elements as possible without overwhelming shoppers.

THe Approach

My approach was simple: create a clean and expected user experience while surprising visitors with color and fonts that were bold and in your face. On the homepage, I used misalignment to create special moments while keeping a clean grid so shoppers could navigate easily without feeling overwhelmed.

On the about page, I featured the fictional founder Ayesha to give the brand a human story. I also created a tab system that felt like flipping through a book to learn more about your hair type. This made the educational content feel interactive and fun rather than clinical or boring.

I developed the site in Webflow, balancing clean e-commerce functionality with moments of surprise. The goal was making the site informational and fun while keeping the shopping experience straightforward.

The Result

The result is a site that feels familiar and exciting all at once. We wanted Omni to have a bold fingerprint and shopping experience, and I strongly believe that was achieved. The site challenges what haircare websites typically look like while still functioning as an effective e-commerce platform.

This project shows what's possible when you reimagine an entire industry's approach to branding and digital experience. Omni stands out by being unapologetically bold and inclusive, and the website reflects that vision perfectly.
